The PeterStar Company gives support to cultural, sports and charity events of city and world significance.
PeterStar rendered services during visits of Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II, the King of Norway, US Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, as well as for conducting a joint session of the Council of the Interparliament Assembly of the CIS and the Parliament Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Petersburg Economic Forum and for many other international competitions such as the tennis tournament St. Petersburg Open, Goodwill Games, the Devis Cup match, Ice-Hockey Championship and European Gymnastics Cup. The Company is an organizer of the Auto Rally of the same name and a general sponsor of the rally team – participant of the Championship of Russia.
Participation in the federal program on preparing the celebration of the city’s anniversary became one of the Company’s priority projects, under which PeterStar was a fixed communication carrier and provided the CIS and Russia-European union summits’ sites with communication services. Within the scope of preparing Vassilievski Island for the 300th anniversary of Saint Petersburg PeterStar invested funds in renovating Lines 16 and 17 of the district.
The Company launched a program “The City of Would Internet” consisting in the arrangement of public Internet access points at airports, hotels, and cafes. The program was aimed at members of the delegations arriving to Pulkovo, as well as to schoolchildren, students and ordinary citizens. Access was arranged using the latest wireless access Wi-Fi technology or via touch screen kiosks.
Within the scope of preparing the city for the 300th anniversary it became an urgent project of social significance to liquidate the queue for telephone installation among residents of Vassilievski Island. From 1997 the Company renders communication services to the Vassilievski Island population under fixed city tariffs. At present PeterStar serves about 40 thousand telephone lines in Vassilievski Island.
