History
PeterStar launched activities in 1992. Those were the times when market economy and business foundations were being laid in Russia, when partner relation were being formed and international business contacts extended, requiring new communication quality and service standards.
PeterStar became one of the first companies to clear access to global telecommunications systems. The PeterStar network was being constructed on the basis of the existing city infrastructure that allowed the Company from the very beginning to offer a full range of quality telecommunications services on a municipal scale.
| 2007 | PeterStar obtained the license for the provision of IP telephony services in eight RF regions. PeterStar strengthened leading positions by signing the deal on acquiring a Petersburg carrier Linia 1. |
| 2006 | PeterStar launched the implementation of a complex plan on modernizing subscriber access network. New equipment sets from the well-known manufacturer Raisecom were installed on all segments. The equipment was meant for new-generation networks, providing vast capabilities when applied on fiber optic and wireless lines. PeterStar obtained the permit from the Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Communications (Rossvyaznadzor) to operate a zonal telephone node and render intrazonal telephone communication services in Saint Petersburg. PeterStar rendered communication services during the G8 Summit. PeterStar implemented a project on furnishing Wi-Fi services in Murmansk. |
| 2005 | PeterStar launched the provision of a new service for the Vassilievski Island residents - Home Networks. PeterStar expanded the Company's geography; in February a deal was arranged on acquiring a 100% stake in the alternative telecom carrier of Kaliningrad ZAO Telecom Western Shipping Company. A new PeterStar office was opened in Kaliningrad. PeterStar became a laureate of the competition "Best Russian Enterprises" in the nomination "For the highest financial efficiency". |
| 2004 | PeterStar started developing a communication network using the PON (Passive Optical Networking) technology ensuring the most efficient and effective method of constructing large-scale multi-service access systems. PeterStar opened their own Internet node in New-York, securing for themselves the status of higher-level ISP. |
| 2003 | PeterStar was recognized as the best Russian enterprise (a laureate of the VII All-Russian Competition "Best Russian Enterprises". PeterStar participated in preparing the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Saint Petersburg. PeterStar installed and tested a new AXE-10 digital switch from the world leading manufacturer Ericsson - the first new-generation exchange in Russia. PeterStar joined the International Alliance of Wi-Fi Carriers. Internet node retrofit. The Company opened a point of presence in London (London Exchange Point), installed highly productive Juniper routers (USA) and signed direct operator agreements with the first-level providers Telia and WorldCom (MCI). Construction of a new multi-service IP network to provide efficient solutions, unlimited data transmission capabilities and high data exchange rates. Construction of the Wireless Broadband Access System (WBA) based on Ericsson equipment. |
